I picked up a tennis racquet at 6, played seriously for years then off and on until a few years ago when I traded my racquet for a PB paddle. I am a PPR certified instructor with a 4.0 + rating. I've won/medaled at numerous tournaments. My favorite was the 2025 National Senior Games (must be 50&up) where I won Silver at 4.0 singles.
I offer beginner thru intermediate level instruction focusing on the foundation of good footwork and paddle prep with an emphasis on the first three balls( serves, returns, 3rd shot drop/drive). We then build upon that w/ technical/tactical instruction in regard to moving from the baseline, thru the transition area to the NVZ line.
I like to think that my classes are equal parts laughter and very hard work!
After years of playing tennis and ping pong I was introduced to pickleball 2 years ago and instantly became addicted to the sport. Relatively quickly I became a 4.5 player and now compete in the 4.5 + division. As a coach I'm passionate about helping all levels improve. I focus on fundamentals, intentional practice, and strategic shot selection. Whether you are training for your next tournament or just want to level up your game I'd be happy to assist you.
A native of Hatteras Island, Donnie loves to be in the ocean surfing, or out on the court trying to master the game of pickleball. With a DUPR rating of 4.5, over 100 tournament matches, and 15+ medals in tournament play Donnie is still seeking to improve every day.
He was certified to teach in Leesburg, FL by IPTPA. His passion for teaching is obvious once you are on court with him. If you are an advanced intermediate or an advanced player who wants to get to that next level, compete in tournaments and learn strategy, contact Donnie for a lesson!

New to pickleball or played just a few times. You are learning basic rules, scoring, court positioning, and fundamental strokes.

Intro to Pickleball is the easiest way to try the sport at Village Beach Club. In just 30 minutes, new players learn the basics — rules, scoring, grip, court layout, safety, and first shots — then jump into guided open play to put it all into practice in a fun, low-pressure environment. No equipment needed.

Rent Pickleball EquipmentRental equipment must be returned in the same condition received. Fees may apply for lost, damaged, stolen, or unreturned items.
