Surfing in Nags Head
Renting a Surfboard on the Outer Banks
Nags Head sits on one of the most consistent stretches of surf on the East Coast. Swells from the open Atlantic reach the Outer Banks with nothing in the way, which makes the beaches here a favorite for surfers of every level, and it means conditions can change quickly.
Rent a soft-top surfboard or a boogie board on its own, or get a surfboard bundled with a beach setup. Boards are for riders whose ability matches the day’s ocean conditions, and our team coordinates board issue and return. Lessons are not included, so beginners should choose calm days, stay near lifeguarded areas and never surf alone.
Before paddling out, check the surf forecast and rip current risk, follow lifeguard flags and posted warnings, and stay well clear of swimmers and fishing piers. Surfboard use is always subject to ocean conditions and Club rental requirements.
Not planning to surf? Book the same comfort without a board through our beach chair and umbrella rentals or beach cabana rentals.
